In late June I was very honoured to present a joint keynote and panel at the Disruption Network Lab with researcher extraordinaire Os Keyes, mediated by philosopher Resa-Philip Lunau.
In my portion of the talk (slides here), I discuss the history of conversion practices, their deep roots within the medical establishment, and how these are re-expressing themselves in a resurgent practice of networks of people engaged in DIY conversion practices.
I then call for the trans community at large to further develop our capacity to look after our own needs to some extent to act as a check against the often authoritarian medical model we have inherited.
