Reports appeared yesterday (2020/10/29) of a new mailing campaign sending DVDs out to schools warning them about "Transgenderism", its "influence on young children", and claiming that "A Troubling Ideology is Targeting our Children".
Trans Safety Network are aware of multiple reports of these transphobic information packs being sent to schools in England and Scotland. If you are a school worker and have received one of these packs or any similar material we would be very interested in any further details you could provide to our email address [email protected].
The DVD was produced by the UK Christian Creationist group Truth In Science, and features content from several figures who are well known for anti-LGBT and anti-abortion views. These include:
- Peter Saunders, Chief Executive of the International Christian Medical and Dental Association who has written in the past coming to the defence of a GP who claimed there were links between paedophilia and homosexuality and has a long track record himself of writing promoting the idea that homosexuality can be cured through prayer and condemning it as an unhealthy "lifestyle".
- Diane Eager, a creationist, who's previously co-written articles disputing whether homosexuality is natural.
- Carys Moseley of Christian Concern who is an executive board member for research and social policy at the IFTCC, an international pro-conversion therapy lobbying group.
- Julie Maxwell, of the "Christian Medical Fellowship", who is also regularly cited as a medical expert on trans issues by anti-trans "Gender Critical" campaign groups like Woman's Place UK, Peak Trans and Transgender Trend and has previously worked delivering presentations on how to deliver anti-trans, anti-LGB and anti-abortion SRE for children.
